
Intern Program
The Mt. Pleasant
Area Chamber of Commerce is the premier business organization serving the
greater Mt. Pleasant area. Our office takes great pride in
working with Central Michigan University and Mid Michigan Community College and their
Internship Programs. The Chamber offers students a hands-on, real world work
experience in a community based business environment. We focus on supporting
and promoting area business and industry for the benefit of Mt. Pleasant and the surrounding area.
The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce
provides business networking opportunities for members every month through: Business After Hours (BAH), Business Over
Breakfast (BOB), and Referrals Over Breakfast (ROB). It provides
educational programs through Chamber University for
Business Education (CUBE), the Rollie Denison Leadership Institute, and the
Institute for the Entrepreneur. The Chamber provides group health insurance programs to its members
through its partnership with Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Michigan as well. We
also sponsor Business Expo, the
largest business event in Mt. Pleasant, held annually at the Soaring Eagle Casino
& Resort. Candidates interested in an internship with the Mt. Pleasant Area

Internship:
The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce Intern Program for Central Michigan University and Mid Michigan Community College students is
unpaid with Interns averaging 20 (more if needed to fulfill requirements) hours
per week for a 15-20 week period (300-400 hours). This is a great way for students to gain valuable
work experience that also looks great on a resume.
Skills & Personality Requirements: The Chamber of Commerce is a member based
organization. As such, serving our
members and community is our main priority.
To become a Chamber Intern, you must have the following abilities and
personality traits:
- Pleasant, Optimistic, “Can Do!” attitude
- Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Publisher,
Outlook, Etc.
- Excellent communication skills:
telephone etiquette, writing ability
- Attention to detail – error free work
- Sales / Marketing / Presentation abilities
- Greeting Skills: Walk-in traffic, telephone inquiries
- Team Player Attributes / Skills
