2009 Citizen of the Year

In 1957 the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce presented the first “Citizen of the Year” award to Norval Bovee. From that time on there has been no greater “Who’s Who” list for the most outstanding community leaders in Mt. Pleasant.

The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Awards Banquet is the most elegant dinner event of the year in Mt. Pleasant. The criteria to win the Award are quite specific and center on unselfish devotion to the community. Citizen of the Year is the Chamber’s highest honor and it is awarded each year to the top candidate that meets all of the following criteria:

• Significant contributions in time and effort to the community
• Service above duty and not job related
• Promotion of Mt. Pleasant to people outside the area
• Establishment of civic activities in the area

Each year in December nominations are solicited to the community with the first week of January as the deadline. If you would like to nominate someone for “Citizen of the Year” please fill out the Nomination Form and submit it to April Osburn, VP of Membership & Programs. 

At the Annual Awards Banquet, we also honor outstanding volunteers and local organizations with an “Eagle Award” for excellence in service and leadership. If you would like to nominate someone for an Eagle Award please fill out the Nomination Form and submit it to April Osburn.

Last, but certainly not least, we present the Charles E. Anthony Award to honor our most outstanding Chamber Board Member for the past year.
